Well it took a little longer than expected but it’s finally here. The new site features more java, more content, and should be set up to view on multiple platforms.
I had planned on putting the site shortly after my last post but I did not plan on being attacked right outside my apartment. I don’t really like to share personal details over the internet but to anyone who ever has any suspicion of danger; please trust your instincts. No matter how strong you feel your bubble is, someone has a needle sharp enough to pop it.
In my case I was attacked by three nobodies. They were walking northbound as I headed southbound on Battery (irony?). Their formation was as followed: one on the sidewalk coming towards me, one on the opposing sidewalk, and one walking right down the middle of the street. I had walked by the one nearest to me and thought I had made it to my door. Within a split second I heard the sound of his jacket making a quick movement. My first thought was “IDIOT!” how can I be so stupid? He had put me in a full nelson and the other two ran over and started throwing punches. I realize you can’t rationalize and irrational act but you can take steps to prevent it. I am unclear on how I would prevent my situation. I do take note that it is my responsibility to tell others about my story, so if they find themselves in a similar situation, they’ll know how to respond.
Fortunately all my years of playing hockey prepared me to take such a beating and the only damage I undertook was from the fall and one of the beer bottles I was carrying broke. To end on a lighter note; 3 of the 4 beers survived and I savored every moment.
Be safe, enjoy the new layout, and Happy Holidays!
Redesigning the site over the next 24 hours so I’m sorry in advance for broken links. Everything should be up by tomorrow morning. I decided to go with standard HTML/JavaScript instead of flash and strip things down for a more accessible site. In the meantime here are some Works in Progress and dhaakon.com is still the same. The first one is done on masonite and the second is pencil on canvas.
